The Outdoors on borrowed time

It's that time of the year again

There are some wives that dread September thru February because that’s when football season is in full swing. Husbands/fathers, are attracted to that one eyed monster, (TV) like a 15 year old boy trying to control the hormones raging through his system on prom night. Luckily I’m not like that. Oh surei love to watch football, but I’m not really obsessed with it to the point that I buy the cable football package. We’ve all heard or know of individuals that have their dvr set for all 3 major channels and also espn and the other sports packages, and while they are taping, they are watching another game they couldn’t record because you can only record so many channels at one time. And when little Susie wants to watch yo gabba gabba, daddy says “sorry, he’s not on the starting lineup”, all the time thinking to himself, yo gabba gabba ain’t gonna give me any points for my fantasy football.
Yeah my wife is lucky in that sense, but unlucky that deer season is here again and I’ve been looking forward to it since last January when it ended. That’s right, bow season starts Saturday October 2, and I’ll be out there at the crack of dawn. My Jeep is packed, my hunting gear is ready to go and on the day before bow season starts I’m like that 15 year old kid. All year long I’ve been watching hunting shows and on days they had reruns, I watched the fishing shows. Oh did I mention I have 3 outdoor channels!!! I’ve watched them shooting little bucks, big bucks, does, hogs and then there were really big hogs. I watched them shoot birds, and also watched them shoot gar and flounder with bows. I watched the shows on deer management, food plots, and scent control techniques also, and October 2 has finally come and did I mention I’m like that 15 year old kid.
Tomorrow can’t come fast enough, but it will get here and when it does i will either be sitting next to that oak tree waiting, or in a tree waiting, but I won’t be by myself. Elliott and Collin also have that same fever and we plan on spending the night out there so we can get up before the sun does and be in place and hopefully get one of the bucks or does that are in the pictures. Hopefully one of us will be able to release that arrow and hit the bulls eye. I know that as usual it’s gonna be hard to let the deer just wander around while waiting for that perfect shot. You know, like a 15 year old kid that……..well never mind, you get the picture. If I am able to get a buck or doe tomorrow, one thing is for sure. After the shots been made, the deer has been cleaned and drug and lifted into the truck, that 15 year old kid is going to feel his actual age of 51. But it’s fun though and I’ve been looking forward to it since last January.
